Job summary

MCW Consultants in Truro, Nova Scotia, is seeking a Senior Electrical Technologist to lead the development of construction documents and coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams on healthcare, institutional, commercial, and public-sector facilities.

You will work with engineers and project teams to design and document electrical systems, ensuring buildable, coordinated, and compliant drawings while contributing to project delivery andoffice-wide standards.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology; CET status preferred.
• Experience developing and coordinating mechanical building system models and construction documents.
• Strong AutoCAD and Revit proficiency.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative project team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and coordinate electrical construction drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.

• Coordinate electrical systems with architectural, structural, mechanical, and civil disciplines.
• Review drawings for completeness, accuracy, constructability, and compliance with company standards.
• Periodically conduct field measurements and site surveys for renovation and retrofit projects.
• Support contract administration activities including shop drawing reviews and responses to contractor inquiries.
• Assist with project coordination and communication throughout design and construction process.
• Support and mentor junior CAD staff.
• Contribute to continual improvements in drafting standards and workflows.

Electrical Engineering - Senior Technologist

Truro, Nova Scotia

MCW Consultants is seeking a Senior Electrical Technologist to join our growing Truro office.

This role is ideal for an experienced technologist who enjoys developing high-quality construction documents, coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams, and contributing to the successful delivery of complex building projects.

Working closely with engineers and project teams, you will play a key role in the design and documentation of healthcare, institutional, commercial, and public-sector facilities throughout Atlantic Canada.

This is an office-based position located in Truro, Nova Scotia. Our office is home to a close-knit team of approximately 10 engineers, technologists, and administrative professionals, covering both mechanical and electrical disciplines. While you'll enjoy the friendly, collaborative environment of a small office, you'll also have the support of our larger offices throughout the Maritimes, giving you the opportunity to contribute to projects of all sizes and complexities.

Salary Range

$55,000 - $70,000 (Salary will be determined based on the relevant experience, qualifications, skills and alignment with the role requirements.)

What You'll Do

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline. Preference given to candidates who have achieved C.E.T. status.

• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems.
• Strong understanding of construction documentation and industry best practices.
• Experience coordinating projects with multiple disciplines.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative project team.

• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel occasionally to project sites.
