Job summary

WSP in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia seeks a Civil Engineering Technologist/Technician to contribute to municipal infrastructure projects. This role blends office design work with field inspections and site assessments across Nova Scotia.

You’ll work with engineers and municipal clients to deliver design development, site assessments, and construction support. You will develop AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings, prepare reports and technical specs, and help ensure work meets safety and design requirements.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering Technician from an accredited college.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar civil design software.

Responsibilities

• Produce civil, municipal infrastructure, and transportation drawings and models using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Coordinate and review drawings with multidisciplinary engineering teams for integrated project delivery.
• Support project teams with coordination, documentation, and design deliverables for municipal projects.
• Prepare engineering reports, technical specifications, quantity estimates, and construction documentation.
• Investigate field/design challenges and contribute to reports, recommendations, and solutions.
• Liaise with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and stakeholders to support project outcomes.
• Conduct site visits and construction inspections to collect data and verify conditions.
• Ensure construction work aligns with project requirements, specs, safety expectations, and design intent.

Join our Dartmouth, Nova Scotia team as a Civil Engineering Technologist / Technician and play a key role in delivering municipal infrastructure projects that support growing communities throughout the province. This position offers a unique blend of office and field responsibilities, allowing you to contribute to design development, site assessments, construction support activities, and field inspections.

Working alongside experienced engineers, technologists, and municipal clients, you'll gain valuable experience across all stages of project delivery while helping shape the infrastructure that communities rely on every day.

Your Impact

• Civil Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering Technician diploma from an accredited college.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar civil engineering design software.
• Strong understanding of engineering drafting, design documentation, and technical reporting principles.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in both office and field environments.
• Effective organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence interacting with clients and project stakeholders.
• Willingness and ability to travel periodically throughout Nova Scotia for field assignments and site inspections.
• Experience or exposure to municipal infrastructure design, construction inspection, surveying, or related field activities through employment, internships, or academic projects is considered an asset.
• Familiarity with Nova Scotia municipal standards and specifications is considered an asset.
• Eligibility for membership or registration with TechNova is considered an asset.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $57,500 - $76,200

MB & ON: $52,500 - $72,300

NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $52,000 - $69,000
