Job summary

MCW Group of Companies seeks a Mechanical Designer to join our Toronto office. You will coordinate mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, across varied projects from inception to construction.

Minimum 3+ years of engineering experience and a degree in mechanical engineering are required. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, plus bid/tender knowledge, is essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Completion of a University Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Background developing construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Familiar with bid and tendering process.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the design concept through the preparation and production of drawings and schematics of mechanical systems, including HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection.
  • Prepare the concept design and complete load calculations, schematics, equipment selection and system concept report.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines internally as well as externally with consultants and architects to ensure drawing integrity and completeness.
  • Assist in the contract documents including the specifications.
  • Work with the field review team during the construction phase and ensure code compliance.
  • Work with project team and Project Manager to ensure on-time project completion.
  • Update the schedule regularly as agreed to for the project.
  • Assist with shop-drawing reviews.
  • Work with contractors and responding to technical inquiries.
  • Provide technical and administrative support through all phases of the project.
  • Help to establish and promote client relationships.
  • Coordinate with internal production teams.
  • Strive to ensure quality and timely delivery of finished products to clients.
  • Attend site and online meetings and communicate directly with clients to complete the project from start to finish.
  • Escalate resource issues to the appropriate Project Manager.

MCW is currently seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our Toronto office. This position plays a key role in coordinating projects of various sizes and complexity to deliver project deadlines. Position: Mechanical Designer


Salary Range: $65,000 - $95,000


Primary Objective: Responsible for the development and management of assigned project work during all phases, from inception through planning, design and construction, in accordance with the project scope, schedule and budget. Responsible for completing the construction administration for projects including site visits and construction meetings.


Responsibilities: The Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

Qualifications, Experience and Education:



  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant engineering experience.

  • Completion of a University Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Background developing construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit.

  • Familiar with bid and tendering process.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, and Word.

  • Experience working with customers and client base.

  • Experience working in a team-based environment.

  • Experience in site investigations and construction review is considered an asset.
