Your new role

The Electrical Engineering Design Manager will be responsible for establishing and leading the electrical engineering design department within the firm. This role requires an individual who is not only capable of managing a team but also actively involved in hands-on design work. A primary focus will be on acquiring new clients, building lasting relationships, and ensuring the successful delivery of electrical designs across various sectors.

• Lead and participate in the design of electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, emergency systems, and sustainable energy solutions.
• Manage the technical delivery of electrical designs from concept through to completion, ensuring quality and accuracy.
• Acquire new clientsby actively pursuing relationships with government agencies, property developers, commercial clients, and other industries.
• Drive business growth by securing new contracts, with a bonus structurelinked to the successful acquisition of new clients.
• Oversee electrical engineering projects from start to finish, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Establish and lead the electrical engineering design department, including defining processes, standards, and building a high-performing team.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, structural) to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Develop and implement training programs to foster growth and skill enhancement within the electrical engineering team.
• Establish departmental goals and KPIs, focusing on client satisfaction, project quality, and profitability.

What You'll Need to Succeed

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master’s ).
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Alberta is required.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in the US is a plus.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering design, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
• Proven ability to acquire new clients and secure contracts.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software commonly used in the industry.
• In-depth knowledge of local building codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements in Calgary and Alberta.
