Job summary

The Mosaic Company, a world-leading producer of phosphate and potash, is seeking an Electrical Engineer/Technologist Co-op Student for Summer 2027 at the Esterhazy potash mine in Saskatchewan. The role supports critical power and infrastructure systems, with exposure to operations and capital projects.

Housing and relocation can be provided for qualified candidates. Typical schedule is 9/80, 36–40 hours per week, in-person, with opportunities to work on upcoming projects and gain hands-on

Qualifications

  • Entering third year level or above by May 2027 pursuing a bachelor's in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a completed 1st year of Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology Diploma.
  • Ability to function in an industrial chemical, and mining environment.
  • 1-2 years volunteering or related student activities preferred.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience preferred.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license; travel to sites/offices required.
  • Able to work full time and be a student in standing during co-op/internship.
  • Post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical exam may be required.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Teamwork in a professional setting is a must.
  • Familiarity with an industrial environment is desirable.
  • Effective verbal communication skills are a plus.

  • Perform electrical drawing redlines and field audits for power, communication/network, and control systems.
  • Assist with and lead switching sequences and lockout procedures during maintenance shutdowns and outages.
  • Support major electrical projects including hoist/MCC upgrades and underground grid expansions.
  • Communicate with management, plant operators, engineers, tradespersons, and contractors.
  • Participate in department and project meetings.

Mosaic Potash Esterhazy is an underground potash mine located 90 kilometers south of Yorkton. It’s split between three mine sites - K1, K2 and K3 which will be the largest, and one of the world’s most competitive underground potash mines in the world.

An Electrical Engineer/Technologist Co-op Student supports critical power and infrastructure systems, with exposure to both day-to-day operations and large-scale capital projects. The position offers the opportunity to build technical expertise while contributing to system reliability, safety, and long-term electrical planning. What you’ll do:
  • Perform electrical drawing redlines and field audits for power, communication/network, and control systems to ensure documentation accuracy
  • Assist with and lead switching sequences and lockout procedures during maintenance shutdowns, outages, and major electrical PM activities
  • Support major upcoming electrical projects, including hoist and MCC upgrades, underground grid expansions, substation replacements, and long-term power demand and protection studies
  • Communicate with various levels of personnel throughout the organization, including management, plant operators, engineers (of various disciplines), tradespersons, and contractors.
  • Participation in department meetings, and meetings specific to project assignments.
  • Adhering to Mosaic’s mission, guiding principles and priorities, and key competencies.
What you’ll need:
  • Entering third year level or above by May2027 pursuing a bachelor's in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a Completed 1st year of Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology Diploma.
  • Ability to function in an industrial chemical, and mining environment.
  • 1-2 years of experience volunteering, working with student/school organizations, orworkis preferred.
  • Previousinternship or co‑op experience is preferred.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license - You will need to be able to travel to and from sites and/or office.
  • Ability to work full timeand be a student in standing at the time of the co‑op/internship
  • Selected candidates willbe requiredto successfully completepost‑offer/pre‑placementdrug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination.
  • Basic computer skills are required
