Position: Engineer/Scientist, Electrical Design

Reports to: Section Manager, Site Engineering (Electrical, Instrumentation & Control), OPG Site Services

Hours per week: 37.5

Kinectrics supports the development and deployment of nuclear power, leading life extension projects globally. The successful candidate will design electrical systems and components for nuclear and related projects, supporting multi-disciplinary teams mainly in Durham Region, at sites like Pickering and Darlington.

Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact

Deliver electrical engineering expertise to utilities and clients, including:

  • Developing conceptual and detailed equipment designs.
  • Mentoring junior engineers.
  • Designing and analyzing electrical power distribution systems.
  • Performing condition assessments of electrical equipment.
  • Developing lifecycle plans and inspection/test programs.
  • Managing engineering changes and performing electrical analysis.
  • Interfacing with construction, procurement, and utility stakeholders.
  • Providing field support and technical guidance on projects.
  • Understanding client problems and providing solutions.
  • Collaborating across disciplines and staying current in the field.
  • Traveling to client sites as needed.
What You Need To Succeed
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years’ experience in electrical design engineering.
  • PEO membership or eligibility.
  • Proven experience in electrical power distribution, especially in nuclear contexts.
  • Knowledge of system protection, stability, and relaying.
  • Experience with electrical equipment assessment and lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., N299, CSA N286).
  • Project management skills and experience working with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of nuclear power plant systems and processes is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and work under pressure.
  • Security clearance with OPG or Bruce Power is an asset.
