Job summary

BBA Consultants is seeking an Electrical Engineer-in-Training to support major electrical projects across Canada. You will contribute from early design through site commissioning, developing relationships with partners and leading a team where needed.

The role requires a degree in electrical engineering, EIT standing, and at least one year of experience, with strong English and French skills for regional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required.
• Member in good standing with EGBC and registered as an EIT.
• At least 1 year of engineering experience.
• Familiarity with electrical schematics (single lines, 3-line and interconnection drawings).
• Knowledge of MS Office and other database applications.
• Basic knowledge of HV/MV/LV equipment and electrical safety.
• Strong written/spoken English; bilingual capability preferred.
• Valid driver's license; willingness to travel within Canada/USA.

Responsibilities

• Support design deliverables under supervision of project engineers.
• Lead collaboration with engineers, designers and drafters to meet client standards.
• Assist with calculations, studies, inspections, testing and commissioning at client sites.
• Develop relationships with partners and mentor junior team members.

Summary of certifications and jobrequirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from a recognized university
• Member in good standing with EGBC and registered as an EIT
• At least one year of experience in engineering
• Familiarity with reading and preparing various types of electrical schematics (single lines, three lines and interconnection drawings)
• Knowledge of MS Office and other database applications
• Basic knowledge of HV/MV/LV apparatus and safety in electrical installations
• Strong communication (spoken and written in English), soft and relationship-building skills
• A valid driver's licence
• Ability to travel to client sites and other BBA offices within Canada, the USA and abroad for short-term assignments, such as site meetings, field reviews, site assessments, tests and more
• Advanced English skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in English-speaking Canadian provinces and internationally; you may need to use English occasionally or daily, depending on current projects
• Advanced French skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in Québec
• Ability to draft technical documents in both languages
• Asset: knowledge of power systems (HV, MV, LV)
• Asset: knowledge of electrical study software such as PSCAD, PSSE, CYME, PSSE and EMTP-RV
