Job summary

At BBA Consultants in Toronto, Junior Electrical Engineer will support planning, design and estimation for HV substations and renewable energy projects, including battery storage, wind, solar and hydro.

You will apply established calculation methods, prepare plans and schematics, read diagrams, and contribute to technical documents, study reports and project coordination with clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
• PEO membership in good standing is preferred.
• New grad or up to 2 years of engineering experience with reading electrical schematics.
• Available for short-term assignments and basic MS Office skills.
• Knowledge of HV/MV/LV apparatus and safety basics.
• Bilingual English/French is a plus; power-systems knowledge is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Apply established calculation and design methods for HV substations and renewable facilities.
• Prepare plans, schematics, technical specifications and project estimates.
• Undertake electrical studies and draft reports.
• Read diagrams and drawings and contribute to project coordination with clients.
• Participate in project management and meetings.

Overview of certifications and job requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineeringfrom an accredited program
• Member in good standing with PEO
• Be a new grad from school, or have ideally up to 2 years of experience in engineering as well as proficiency in reading and preparing electrical schematics of various types (single lines, three lines, and interconnection drawings)
• Available for short-term assignments
• Knowledge of MS Office and other database applications
• Basic knowledge of HV/MV/LV apparatus and safety in electrical installations
• Asset: Bilingual (English and French) spoken and written
• Asset: Knowledge of power systems (HV, MV, LV)
• Asset: Knowledge of ETAP, EasyPower, CYME and PSCAD software
• Asset: Advanced engineering degree
• Asset: Generation engineering experience
