Job summary

KGS Group in Winnipeg is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Winnipeg-based Electrical Department. In this role, you’ll assist with electrical design of multi-disciplinary projects, working with experienced engineers to bring projects to completion.

You’ll conduct studies, create construction drawings and specs, perform calculations, and witness inspections. A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is required, with EGM registration or eligibility preferred; travel to project sites

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from a recognized university.
• Must be registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer in Training with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (EGM).
• Previous consulting experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical design for small to large industrial and hydroelectric projects.
• Collaborate with electrical department personnel and staff on construction drawings, documents, and reports.
• Perform calculations.
• Witness inspections and support project work on site as required.

The Role

We’re seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Winnipeg-based Electrical Department. In this role, you’ll assist with electrical design of multi-disciplinary projects. You’ll work with experienced engineers and subject matter experts designing the project to completion.

You will be part of a team conducting technical work for various studies, engineering designs, preparation of construction drawings and specifications, and carrying out inspections. You will be working in a collaborative environment with a great team of engineers, technicians, scientists, and other industry-leading peers.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide electrical design for small to large industrial and hydroelectric projects


• Work in a team environment with our other electrical department personnel and administrative staff, assisting with the preparation of construction drawings, documents, and reports


• Perform calculations


• Witness inspections and support project work on site as required


• Perform other duties as assigned

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from a recognized university; a post graduate degree would be an asset


• Must be registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer in Training with EGM (Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba)


• Previous consulting experience is an asset


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills


• Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, National Building Code and other relevant codes and standards is an asset


• Availability to periodically travel to project sites on an as required basis for ½ day or 1-day site visits, typically for data collection, review of construction or attendance at coordination or design review meetings


• Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability/willingness to undergo security clearance checks


• Ability to adapt to and meet the challenges of a variety of different projects from clients in many different industries
