Job summary

Wchrs in Manitoba is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of electrical systems for various construction projects. The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with codes and deliver reliable solutions on time.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Electrical Engineering and preferably be a registered Professional Engineer. Key responsibilities include designing electrical systems, conducting site visits, and supporting project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or an EIT with project management experience.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems in various environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, review, and coordinate electrical systems for construction projects.
  • Ensure compliance with Manitoba Electrical Code and Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and troubleshoot issues.

You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, ensure code compliance, solve technical challenges, and support projects from design through commissioning—helping deliver safe, efficient, and reliable solutions on time and on budget.

What You Will Do
  • Design, review, and coordinate electrical systems for building projects.
  • Prepare and review electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure all designs and installations comply with applicable codes, regulations, standards, and safety requirements, including the Manitoba Electrical Code and Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, structural engineers, architects, contractors, and clients throughout project lifecycles.
  • Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions, monitor construction progress, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and startup activities for electrical systems and equipment.
What You Will Need
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Preference will be given to candidates registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers & Geoscientists of Manitoba.
  • Engineers-in-Training (EITs) with demonstrated ability to manage projects may also be considered.
  • Valid Class5 Manitoba Driver’s Licence.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems in commercial, industrial, agricultural, and construction environments.
  • Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Proficiency with engineering software (AutoCAD and Revit).
