Job summary

The Winnipeg office of Hatch is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team. Projects span metals, infrastructure and energy sectors, with large EPCM and smaller support assignments.

You will work in a multi-discipline environment empowering you to make a difference. You will provide senior electrical engineering and design expertise, lead the electrical team, mentor engineers, prepare calculations and specifications, review vendor drawings, and develop design packages.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree and Professional Engineer registration in Canada.
• 7+ years of relevant EPCM experience in utilities/metals.
• Strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of industry codes and standards.
• Experience with multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provides senior-level electrical engineering and design expertise for projects.
• Provides technical leadership and guidance for the electrical team
• Mentor engineers-in-training and designers
• Prepare and check calculations as required
• Prepare electrical equipment specification packages
• Check vendor drawings and data for compliance with specifications
• Prepares detailed design, supply, construction and installation specifications
• Develop conceptual designs, studies, reports and proposals
• Ensures effective communication within project teams and with client engineers
• Track project metrics
• Report to Area Project Engineering Manager for project issues and to the overall Electrical Lead for functional issues
• Visit project sites and other Hatch design offices for project related activities as required

SUMMARY:

The Winnipeg office is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team. Projects executed out of Winnipeg are primarily in the metals, infrastructure and energy sectors and consist of large EPCM and small operations support projects. We work in a multi-discipline engineering environment where every individual is empowered with the opportunity to make a difference.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides senior-level electrical engineering and design expertise for projects, supporting successful execution within budget and schedule.
• Provides technical leadership and guidance for the electrical team
• Mentor engineers-in-training and designers
• Prepare and check calculations as required
• Prepare electrical equipment specification packages
• Check vendor drawings and data for compliance with specifications
• Prepares detailed design, supply, construction and installation specifications
• Develop conceptual designs, studies, reports and proposals
• Ensures effective communication within project teams and with client engineers
• Track project metrics
• Report to Area Project Engineering Manager for project issues and to the overall Electrical Lead for functional issues
• Visit project sites and other Hatch design offices for project related activities as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Engineer with 7 plus years of relevant experience – preferably in an EPCM environment for industrial projects in utilities and/or metals
• Engineering degree and registered as a Professional Engineer with the P.E.O or another Canadian Professional Engineering Association
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of industry, regulatory codes and standards
• Proficient with the following electrical design tools and software: SPEL, ETAP, SKM, EasyPower and ASPEN
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multi disciplinary teams
• Collaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutions
