As an Electrical Engineer in the Robotics Hardware Team, you will help us create advanced robotic systems for our customers. You will work closely with other disciplines (Hardware, Product, Software, ML, AI, etc.) designing electro-mechanical assemblies for our complex robotic systems.
You will be asked to serve as a subject matter expert for controls subsystems and own critical components of new robotic systems. You will collaborate with adjacent teams to ensure your designs can be introduced into a production environment and serve as the foundational system for our advanced AI.
What you’ll do:
- Design systems utilizing automation-grade electrical and electronics equipment.
- Partner with the software team in the selection, integration, and programming of industrial robot software packages and tools.
- Work in a fast-paced environment to deliver advanced design solutions and documentation for troubleshooting and eliminating control system issues.
- Develop technologies for production in a cross-functional team.
- Design PCB prototypes and support design review for contract manufacturers.
- Create and document standard operating procedures, keeping accurate records and up to date.
What you bring:
- 3+ years of industry experience related to electrical, controls, or automation.
- Knowledge and experience with industrial automation hardware, power supplies, sensors, motors, and other electromechanical components.
- Strong understanding of RTOS and Industrial Protocols.
- Ability to create and maintain electrical schematics, layout drawings, wiring diagrams, wire harnesses, and BOMs for electrical panels.
- Familiarity with machine safety standards such as UL508A, ANSI/RIA R15.06-2012, and NFPA79 (and international equivalents).
- Proficiency in creating wiring diagrams using AutoCAD, ePlan, or similar tools.
- Willingness to travel internationally up to 10% of the time.
- Pneumatic system experience, including valving and instrumentation.
- Electrical harness creation experience for automotive or automation applications.
- Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
- Familiarity with embedded development toolchains (compilers, debuggers, IDEs).
- Experience in robot programming and ROS.
- Experience developing and debugging firmware for real-time systems.
- Experience with low-level hardware interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet.
- Demonstrated experience in robotics.
- Experience with CAD design tools like SolidWorks, Altium, or Onshape.
How to Stand out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Engineering or related field with over 3 years of relevant robotics experience.
- At least 2 years of experience with AutoCAD electrical, Altium, or Eplan.
- At least 2 years of experience designing control systems.
- Familiarity with two or more robot vendors.
- Over 1 year of experience working with or troubleshooting network systems and communication.
- Over 1 year of 3D modeling experience with CAD software.
- Over 1 year of experience in control system design and wiring diagram creation for North American and international markets.
