Qualifications

  • Proficient with electrical design principles and industry codes/standards.
  • Experience leading electrical design activities on complex projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of electrical engineers and CAD personnel.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and project oversight.
  • Prepare design calculations, equipment specs, and technical deliverables.

Hatch's Sudbury office is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join their team. Projects executed in various sectors and consist of large EPCM and small operations support projects. A typical day:
  • Lead and manage a team of Electrical Engineers, Designers, and CAD personnel to deliver mining and mineral processing projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to engineers-in-training and design staff.
  • Prepare, review, and verify engineering calculations, electrical equipment specifications, and technical deliverables.
  • Develop detailed design, procurement, construction, and installation specifications for electrical systems.
  • Review vendor drawings and technical data to ensure compliance with project requirements and specifications.
  • Prepare conceptual designs, engineering studies, technical reports, and project proposals.
  • Foster effective communication and coordination among project teams, clients, and stakeholders while tracking project performance metrics.
  • Support project execution by reporting project and functional issues, and conducting site visits and collaboration with other design offices as required.
Successful candidates will have:
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with an engineering degree and 7+ years of relevant experience, preferably in EPCM industrial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, industry practices, and applicable regulatory codes and standards.
  • Proven experience leading and contributing to electrical engineering and design activities on complex projects.
  • Proficient in electrical design and analysis software, including SPEL, ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, and ASPEN.
  • Skilled in preparing and reviewing technical engineering deliverables and project documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
  • Advanced computer skills and the ability to utilize engineering software tools to support project execution.
