Responsibilities

• Develop project execution strategies, engineering deliverables, work plans, budgets, and schedules with the Engineering Manager.
• Manage engineering work packages and resources to meet deliverables on time and within budget.
• Review and approve technical designs and system requirements to support project execution.
• Coordinate mechanical/piping activities with multidisciplinary teams and represent the discipline in coordination meetings.
• Ensure QA through audits, documentation control, and adherence to project procedures.

Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Engineering consulting industry in Sudbury, Ontario. The Senior Mechanical/Piping Engineer defines and develops the plan to meet the Project requirements and manages a team of mechanical and piping engineers and designers to ensure regulatory code compliance and quality of deliverables. In addition, the Senior Mechanical/Piping Engineer assists in achieving the required project schedules and costs and resolution of all technical issues related to the discipline.

Typical day:

• Lead and oversee mechanical/piping engineering activities, ensuring compliance with applicable health, safety, regulatory, client, and engineering standards.
• Develop project execution strategies, engineering deliverables, work plans, scope documentation, budgets, and schedules in collaboration with the Engineering Manager.
• Manage engineering work packages and resources to ensure deliverables are completed on time and within budget, implementing corrective actions as required.
• Review and approve technical designs, engineering deliverables, procedures, and system requirements to support successful project execution.
• Coordinate mechanical/piping activities with multidisciplinary teams and represent the discipline in project engineering and coordination meetings.
• Ensure quality assurance requirements are met through engineering audits, documentation control, and adherence to project procedures and standards.
• Support project execution through all phases, including planning, design, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning, and participation in HAZOP reviews.
• Promote ethical engineering practices and foster a strong safety culture while supporting continuous improvement and project performance objectives.

Successful candidates will have:

• 10+ years of mechanical and piping engineering experience, supported by a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and P.Eng. designation, with extensive industrial project experience across mining, smelting, and mill operations.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and motivate teams to achieve quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
• Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and execute engineering deliverables with a strong focus on project outcomes.
• Solid understanding of multidisciplinary engineering interfaces and cross-functional project coordination.
• Knowledge of procurement, contracting, fabrication, commissioning, and project execution methodologies.
• Strong understanding of applicable engineering codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Technical expertise in piping design, including P&ID development, line sizing, material selection, valve selection, isolation requirements, and pipe stress analysis.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience using advanced piping systems/tools and exposure to site-based engineering environments.
