What You’ll Do
If variety is what you crave, this is the job for you. In this position, you will deliver excellent quality design work across multiple applications, according to client specifications. You will collaborate with Project Team Leaders to detail and meet planned build schedules, budgets, and material allowances, preparing layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material. You will work closely with other engineering groups and the shop during builds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to multiple applications within project constraints, including scope and timing, to deliver high-quality design work according to client specifications.
- Work with Project Team Leaders to detail and meet build schedules, budgets, and material allowances.
- Prepare layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
- Utilize SolidWorks design suite to manage or develop wiring schematics, wiring harness drawings, and panel assemblies.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and standards across regions and markets.
- Select and/or design components for function, cost, reliability, and manufacturability; interact with suppliers and support purchasing.
- Collaborate with various engineering disciplines within the organization and work closely with the shop during equipment assembly.
- Perform test procedures on machinery, including AC motor control and HVDC systems.
- Coordinate with controls/software engineers, communicating design implications involving electrical/electronic systems; utilize multimeters, oscilloscopes, and CAN tools for design, assembly, and validation.
Required Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in a similar role.
- P.Eng designation in Ontario is an asset.
- Experience in the mining or mobile equipment sector is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Ontario Electrical Safety Code and Canadian Electrical Code.
- Understanding of wiring, motor control, PLC programming, and machinery communication.
- Experience with Process Controls and electrical distribution system projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong time management and ability to work under pressure with deadlines.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently and in teams.
