Intermediate Electrical Engineer, Roadway Lighting and Traffic Signals

Our client, an engineering consulting firm, is engaged in providing professional engineering, operation, and management services. They are seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer, Roadway Lighting and Traffic Signals to join their teams in Toronto or Halton.
Your responsibilities will include :
- Designing electrical systems for small and large projects involving public and private sector clients, including Lighting, Traffic Signals, and Joint Utility Trench designs.
- Preparing schematic and detailed design drawings.
- Supporting all project stages from proposal to construction with technical and administrative expertise.
- Conducting field visits to review conditions, identify conflicts, and support construction activities.
- Performing lighting analysis using AGi32 software.
- Preparing contract documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Creating post-construction record drawings.
- Reviewing shop drawings for compliance and accuracy.
- Assisting in field activities such as commissioning and site inspections.
- Mentoring junior staff members.
Qualifications :
- Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering, with focus on roadway lighting and traffic signals design.
- At least 5 years of relevant design experience, preferably in consulting.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards (e.g., TAC, ESA, IMSA, AODA, RP-8, Ontario Traffic Manuals, OPSS, Highway Traffic Act, PHM-125 Legal Plans).
- Experience coordinating utility contacts and assessing conflicts.
- Proficiency in AGi32 and AutoCAD.
- Ability to estimate tender quantities and prepare construction cost estimates.
- Experience in creating pavement marking and roadway signage plans.
- Understanding of Ministry of Transportation of Ontario and municipal project requirements.
- Familiarity with MicroStation, Auto Turn, and SPIDAcalc is an asset.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s Licence – Class G, and access to a personal vehicle for work purposes.
