Job summary

FPS Food Process Solutions Corporation is seeking an Electrical Designer to design industrial electrical systems for FPS machines. You will support the design process from conceptualization through testing and implementation, ensuring adherence to standards and customer value.

The ideal candidate has a strong Electrical Engineering background, proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, and experience with control panels, BOMs, and network diagrams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical.
• EGBC registration as a P.Eng. or EIT is an asset.
• Knowledge of UL, CSA, CE electrical standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain electrical drawings, documentation, and bills of materials for control panels across FPS projects.
• Design power distribution drawings (24VDC, 120VAC, 480VAC, 575VAC, etc.).
• Design control system drawings (PLC I/O, instruments, VFDs, motion control, and panel layouts).
• Develop network architecture diagrams (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus).
• Generate BOMs using components from Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, and others.
• Provide field installation support and develop cable schedules as needed.
• Support FATs and follow FPS Autodesk Vault practices.

This role involves supporting experienced colleagues throughout the entire electrical design process-from conceptualization, through testing, analysis, and refinement, to implementation.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Electrical Engineering, demonstrate a solid understanding of electrical and control principles, and be capable of balancing company cost considerations with customer value. A positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and openness to new ideas and challenges are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain electrical drawings, documentation, and bills of materials for control panels across various FPS projects.
• Design power distribution drawings (24VDC, 120VAC, 480VAC, 575VAC, etc.).
• Design control system drawings (PLC I/O, instruments, VFDs, motion control, and panel layouts).
• Develop network architecture diagrams (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.).
• Generate bills of materials using components from Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, Rittal, Hoffman, and others.
• Provide field installation support and develop cable schedules as needed.
• Support and participate in control panel Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
• Understand and follow FPS Autodesk Vault practices and documentation management procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Abilities

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical.
• Knowledge of relevant electrical standards (UL, CSA, CE) is considered an asset.
• EGBC registration as a P.Eng. or EIT is an asset.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable managing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
