Job summary

Food Process Solutions Corporation is seeking a PLC Programmer to design and refine industrial electrical systems for FPS machines, from concept through testing and implementation. The role requires strong PLC programming knowledge, experience with Allen Bradley, RX Logix and Siemens, and the ability to guide junior staff while leading mid-sized automation projects in a manufacturing setting in Canada.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial automation programming.
• Solid knowledge of PLC languages (Allen Bradley, RX Logix 5000, 500, Siemens) and HMIs (RS Studio).
• Knowledge or ability to create schematics, wiring, and layout drawings.
• Excellent English verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to span both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Excellent prioritization skills with minimal guidance and direction.
• Experience with the freezer control panel or similar panel protocol is preferred.
• Working knowledge of UL, CSA, CE is considered an asset.

Position Scope

The PLC Programmer role is primarily responsible for the design of industrial electrical systems for FPS machines. The role requires the incumbent to be capable in the automation programming process from conceptualization through testing, analysis and refinement to implementation.

The candidate must employ good working knowledge of PLC programming principles and troubleshooting techniques to balance company cost with customer value. The ideal candidate will have an Electrical Engineering background, an excellent personality, superior communication skills, and be open-minded to new ideas and challenges.

Qualifications & Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial automation programming
• Solid knowledge of PLC languages (Allen Bradley, RX Logix 5000, 500, Siemens) and HMIs (RS Studio)
• Knowledge or ability to create schematics, wiring, and layout drawings
• Knowledge of electrical and control design areas, including power distribution, system studies, control systems, variable frequency drives, PLC, DCS, HMI systems, would be an asset
• Experience with applying and troubleshooting wiring and electronics controls
• Excellent English verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to span both technical and non-technical audiences
• Excellent prioritization skills with minimal guidance and direction
• Experience with the freezer control panel or similar panel protocol is preferred
• Working knowledge of UL, CSA, CE is considered an asset
