Job summary

Government of Nunavut seeks an Electrical Technologist – Operations for QEC in Iqaluit, responsible for designing, updating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing control systems across territory power facilities.

Reporting to the Manager, Protection, Control, and Metering, the role provides technical support to Operations and Engineering staff while adhering to Canadian electrical and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Advanced diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology required.
  • Three years of experience designing, updating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing protection, control, and metering systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety standards and practical field experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to territorial generation facilities to investigate and troubleshoot system failures and perform maintenance on protection, control, and metering systems.
  • Manage, organize, and prepare documentation to support modifications and upgrades to control systems.
  • Review automation processes, write programming specifications, and ensure control systems meet plant specifications.
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, maintenance crews, operators, and contractors to provide technical support and advice for projects.
