Job summary

Trench Canada is seeking an HR Advisor to provide day‑to‑day HR support in a fast‑paced manufacturing setting. You will partner with production leaders to manage employee relations, attendance, performance, and workplace concerns while ensuring compliant application of HR policies and collective agreement provisions.

You will support onboarding/offboarding, benefits, pension administration, HR reporting, and the use of AI tools to improve service delivery and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a unionized manufacturing setting.
  • Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Admin, Industrial Relations, or related field.
  • CHRP designation or active pursuit is an asset.
  • Experience partnering with front-line leaders in employee relations and performance management.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for production employees and leaders.
  • Partner with production supervisors to address employee relations, attendance, performance, and conflict.
  • Interpret and administer the Collective Bargaining Agreement; assist in resolving grievances.
  • Coach frontline leaders on people management and compliance with policies.
  • Lead onboarding and offboarding for hourly and salaried staff; ensure smooth transitions.
  • Draft employment contracts, offer letters, disciplinary docs, and HR communications.
  • Administer benefits and pension programs for unionized and non-union groups.

Overview

As a Human Resources Advisor at Trench Canada, you will serve as a trusted partner to production leaders and employees, providing day-to-day HR support within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will play a key role in fostering positive employee relations, supporting workforce effectiveness, and ensuring the consistent application of HR policies, programs, and collective agreement provisions.
Working closely with production supervisors, managers, union representatives, and the HR team, you will provide practical HR guidance and solutions that enable business success while creating a positive employee experience. You will support a variety of HR functions including employee relations, recruitment, disability management, benefits and pension administration, workforce reporting, employee engagement initiatives, and the use of HR technology and AI-enabled solutions to improve service delivery.

Your Tasks:
  • Serve as the primary HR contactfor production employees and leaders, providing guidance and support onworkplace issues, policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Partner with productionsupervisors and managers to address employee relations matters, attendanceconcerns, performance management, workplace conflict, and employee developmentopportunities.
  • Support the consistentadministration and interpretation of the Collective Bargaining Agreement andassist in resolving employee concerns and grievances.
  • Coach and support front-lineleaders in effectively managing people-related matters while ensuringcompliance with company policies, employment legislation, and collectiveagreement requirements.
  • Support employee engagementinitiatives that promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive workplaceculture.
  • Lead onboarding and offboardingactivities for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring a positive employeeexperience and smooth transition processes.
  • Draft employment contracts, offerletters, disciplinary documentation, employee correspondence, and otherHR-related communications.
  • Administer employee benefitsprograms for unionized and non-unionized employee groups, includingenrollments, changes, terminations, and annual renewal activities.
  • Administer pension programs,including enrollment, retirement, and termination processes for both DefinedBenefit and Defined Contribution plans.
  • Coordinate short-term disabilityclaims and support return-to-work programs in collaboration with employees,leaders, healthcare providers, and external vendors.
  • Maintain accurate employee recordsand HRIS data to support compliance, reporting, and workforce planningactivities.
  • Generate, analyze, and interpretHR metrics and reports related to attendance, turnover, vacancies, overtime,and other workforce trends to support business decision-making.
  • Leverage HR technologies,AI-powered tools, and data analytics to improve HR processes, enhance employeeand leader self-service, generate workforce insights, and support data-drivendecision-making.
  • Utilize AI tools to draftcommunications, analyze workforce trends, support recruitment activities,develop training materials, and streamline administrative processes whileensuring data privacy and compliance requirements are maintained.
  • Identify opportunities to automateroutine HR processes and recommend technology-driven solutions that improveefficiency, accuracy, and the employee experience.
  • Collaborate with HR BusinessPartners and business leaders to implement HR initiatives that supportorganizational objectives, operational effectiveness, and continuousimprovement.
  • Participate in corporate and global HR projectsand initiatives as required.
Requirements:
  • 2-4 years of progressive HumanResources experience, preferably in a unionized manufacturing environment.
  • College diploma or universitydegree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or arelated discipline.
  • CHRP designation or active pursuitof a professional HR designation is considered an asset.
  • Experience partnering directlywith front-line leaders in employee relations, attendance management,performance management, and conflict resolution.
  • Working knowledge of employmentlegislation, labour relations principles, collective agreement administration,and workplace investigations.
  • Strong interpersonal andrelationship-building skills with the ability to establish credibility andinfluence across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communication, coaching,and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills withthe ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic manufacturingenvironment.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems,Microsoft Office applications, and digital HR technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverageAI tools, HR technology platforms, and workforce analytics to improvedecision-making, problem-solving, and operational efficiency.
  • Strong digital literacy with theability to adapt to emerging technologies and continuously identifyopportunities for process improvement and innovation.
  • Strong analytical skills with theability to interpret data and provide meaningful business insights.

In accordance with the Pay Transparency Act, we are committed to providing clear and accessible information about compensation for this role. The expected compensation range for this position is $60,000 to $80,000/ Annually. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on several job-related factors, including relevant education, depth and breadth of experience, professional certifications or license, specialized skills aligned with the role, and internal equity considerations. This role offers a comprehensive total rewards package, including paid vacation, group health benefits, pension plan, bonus, and additional employee programs.
