Key focus on managing the Brampton Mother plant along with CSC locations across Canada as necessary, safety programs to maximize employee / facility safety performance. Assumes responsibility for safety of employees, compliance with applicable regulations, accident investigation/review,

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Performs HSE assignments using 5S and safety concepts and principles to anticipate, identify, evaluate, and mitigate HSE hazards for manufacturing, laboratory, and maintenance work areas and activities
  • Manage all employee training and safety-related training. Conduct new hire safety orientation
  • Lead HSE improvement teams, conduct Job Safety Analysis, and represent HSE department in MOC meetings and coordinate with regulatory agencies, emergency responders, risk insurers, internal customers on safety issues
  • In conjunction with the Engineering Department, coordinate safety compliance program for sub-contractors on site and update safety standards as needed
  • Manage industrial hygiene programs to include air sampling, noise dosimetry and others as necessary. Coordinate medical monitoring programs such as hearing conservation and medical evaluation following safety related incident.
  • Ensure plant safety programs are compliant with local, regulations and provide feedback and develop solutions to compliance issues
  • Ensure all incidents and near miss reports are investigated properly – with adequacy and completeness – and ensure that identified corrective actions are implemented and tracked to ensure sustainability to prevent re-occurrence
  • Represent the site with regulatory agencies and prepare and manage preparation of all HSE submittals to these agencies and take the lead on any regulatory agency audit/inspection finding
  • Primary responsibility for developing and conducting plant HSE training and ensuring proper communication of health and safety issues
  • Conduct audits of the HSE programs, review results, and prepare and ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained; Review existing HSE policies and revised policies as needed.
  • Manage compliance, plant safety statistics/data management, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements
  • Implement/maintain/continue to improve HSE procedures and processes
  • Attend training as required to maintain the required certifications and act as a resource to site employees addressing health and safety concerns on the plant floor


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


    • Bachelor’s degree in industrial safety, or associated area such as science or engineering, or reasonable equivalent experience
    • Experience in safety or engineering role
    • 5 to 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably chemical processing
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills – with the ability to effectively address multiple client service requests and communicate to diverse audiences
    • Clear understanding of OSHA regulations and HSE programs (including but not limited to emergency response, hazard recognition and control, HazCom, hot work, ergonomics, LOTO, confined space, etc.)
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal ability to work cross-departmentally, with regulatory agencies at the local, state, and federal. Must interact with the public and other external parties constructively on HSE issues
    • Able to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines, often mandated externally
    • Ability to manage confidential information appropriately
