Job description

Eaton’s ES AMER PCS division is currently seeking an EHS Manager. This position is based at our Edmonton, AB manufacturing facility and offers benefits from day one. Candidates must reside within 80km of Edmonton, AB.

Under the direction of the Plant Manager and as a member of the Plant Leadership team, the EHS Manager will have the responsibility to work closely with stakeholders to drive the EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) activities, developing and deploying a strategy that ensures EHS compliance to all applicable health, safety and environmental laws, regulations, and standards, as well as drives the culture of Zero-Incident with continuous improvement for EATON Edmonton Power Center (EPC). The EATON MESH (Management System of Environmental, Safety, Security and Health) management plan of EPC must be maintained and enhanced for managing all activities and projects to ensure all EATON employees, visitors, and contractors are safe and in compliance.

What you’ll do:
  • Promote and collaborate with team members and all employees to identify new objectives, areas of improvement, activities and guidelines required to effectively drive reduction in environmental, health and safety (EHS) risks.
  • Ensure safe work practices and compliance with EHS policies and procedures of all employees, as outlined in EATON MESH, ISO, as well as Alberta OHS legislation and regulations.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of all EHS related activities by implementing effective preventative & corrective actions through EPC FIFI Program (Safety Observation), Positive Interruptions, Process Check, and Gemba Walk.
  • Develop and mentor team members as well as all employees for EHS systems across the organization.
  • Act as the EHS Management Representative for all end/3rd party certifications.
  • Liaise with external regulatory, advisory, certification and registration bodies.
  • Provide ongoing training, at all levels, of MESH awareness, EHS systems, policies, procedures, and relevant legislation, through training material preparation, training plan and examination verification.
  • Manage any internal audit program for all EHS systems such as MESH self-assessment.
  • Manage all EHS Capital Projects from EPC Profit Plan through contractor safety management and financial management to completion for improving the EHS metrics, SLRA RPNs, and MESH Scores.
  • Drive the culture of zero-incident and the implementation of any EHS Campaigns or Risk Reduction initiatives from EATON EHS Business Sector to close all the assigned Benchmark Actions Tracker on time.
  • Actively involved in the planning of MOC (Management of Change) processes when installing a new equipment or introducing a new product, for EHS hazard analysis and solutions to alleviate any hazards or potential hazards from any change on site.
  • Monitors and administers Early-and-Safe Return to Work Programs for all occupational and non-occupational illnesses/injuries through modified duties program or WCB management program.
Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Post Secondary degree or diploma in EHS or similar field from accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Eligible to work in Canada without company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • No relocation assistance is available. Candidates must reside within 80km of Edmonton, Alberta.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in EHS or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Previous leadership experience within an EHS function.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) Designation.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office including Power BI.
