Job description

Merit Services is seeking a Production Planner to join our client’s dynamic team in Calgary. As a Procurement Specialist, you will oversee supplier connections, bargain effectively on agreements, and ensure that purchasing goods and services is done in a cost-efficient manner. This is an exceptional chance to aid in our strategic sourcing endeavors and truly influence our procurement operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
  1. Gather information through market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers, assess their capabilities, costs, and standards.
  2. Collaborate with internal teams to understand procurement needs and develop sourcing strategies aligned with company goals.
  3. Manage the entire procurement cycle, from issuing RFQs/RFPs to evaluating bids and finalizing vendor contracts.
  4. Monitor supplier performance, manage contract renewals, and foster continuous improvement in supplier relationships.
  5. Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities to improve procurement efficiency while maintaining quality and delivery timelines.
  6. Ensure compliance with procurement policies, regulations, and legal requirements.
  7. Maintain accurate procurement records, including contracts, purchase orders, and supplier documentation.
  8. Stay informed about industry developments, market trends, and emerging technologies to promote innovation and add value.
QUALIFICATIONS :
  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or related fields.
  2. Proven experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or vendor management.
  3. Strong knowledge of procurement procedures, negotiations, and supplier evaluation.
  4. Proficiency with procurement software and tools.
  5. Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.
  6. Analytical skills to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  7. Negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve desired outcomes.
  8. Strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail skills.
  9. Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
