Position Overview :

We are seeking a Legal Counsel to join our Montreal team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute strategically across multiple divisions, providing legal guidance on franchising, corporate transactions, real estate, and litigation support. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, with excellent judgment, business acumen, and a passion for the restaurant industry.

Responsibilities :

• Review, draft, and negotiate legal agreements such as franchise agreements, asset purchase agreements, and share purchase agreements.
• Negotiate and draft commercial leases, amendments, and renewals, collaborating with operations and property management teams.
• Work with internal stakeholders and report on legal files.
• Interpret contractual rights and obligations, identify legal risks, and propose solutions.
• Ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
• Conduct legal research and stay updated on relevant legislation.
• Support cross-functional teams including finance, operations, HR, and real estate.
• Contribute to legal projects like mergers and acquisitions.

Qualifications :

• Law degree from a recognized Canadian or international law school.
• Member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec or Law Society of Ontario.
• 1–3 years of experience in commercial real estate law, franchising, corporate transactions, or litigation.
• Experience in franchising law is highly preferred.
• Strong legal writing, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Bilingual in French and English, spoken and written.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strategic thinker with problem-solving skills and high attention to detail.
• Proactive, eager to expand legal expertise.
