Job summary

A leading national firm in Canada's renewable energy sector seeks a Legal Counsel to handle commercial contracts for large-scale wind and solar projects. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in contract law, strong negotiation skills, and be fully bilingual in English and French. Our Client

Is a national leader in Canada’s renewable energy sector, delivering high-impact infrastructure projects in wind and solar energy.

Responsibilities

  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial contracts related to large-scale wind and solar energy projects
  • Advise internal stakeholders on contract law, legal risk, and regulatory compliance
  • Support cross-border agreements and international negotiations
  • Collaborate with project teams, including engineering, finance, and operations, to identify legal risks and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Contribute to other legal areas such as HR, corporate governance, and compliance
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable laws and industry standards relevant to infrastructure and energy development

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in contract law, ideally with exposure to construction, commercial, or energy sectors
  • Experience in a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal department
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills in complex commercial agreements
  • Fully bilingual in English and French (spoken and written)
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills across diverse teams
  • Member of the Quebec Bar and/or another Canadian province (admission to a U.S. bar is an asset)
