Senior Environmental Planner

Due to the success of our growing airports portfolio in the Greater Toronto Area, we are hiring a Regulatory Permitting Manager to lead our team. The manager will oversee the successful delivery of complex projects, ensuring they meet scope, schedule, cost, quality, and risk management standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing large infrastructure projects, especially in international airport development or similar complex programs.

Location: Toronto, ON

Your role within the team:
  • Oversee environmental reviews for the Facility Alteration Permit (FAP) process related to the Pearson LIFT program, ensuring compliance with environmental standards.
  • Provide technical expertise on environmental processes, permitting, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure the program and design strategies incorporate all relevant environmental requirements.
  • Assist project teams with environmental strategies, data inputs, and analysis.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and mitigate environmental risks related to Pearson LIFT.
  • Consult with GTAA Environmental Services and agencies regarding environmental plans and regulations affecting the program.
  • Coordinate with Program Delivery and Technical Shared Services teams to plan and validate environmental aspects.
  • Support the career development of GTAA staff through coaching and mentoring.

The ideal candidate:
  • Holds a recognized degree in environmental sciences, engineering, or a related field; professional qualification (QP) is a plus.
  • Has at least 10 years of experience in environmental planning within the construction/development industry.
  • Has a minimum of 5 years managing environmental aspects in large infrastructure projects.
  • Has experience working with federal and provincial environmental agencies and knowledge of relevant regulations (e.g., IAA, CEPA, Fisheries Act).
  • Has experience managing and reporting on complex contaminated sites.
  • Has skills in data management and technical report writing.
  • Has experience leading small teams of technical specialists or engineers.
