Job description

You are an innovative, service-oriented leader who is excited to play a pivotal role in a fast-growing organization that supports excellence in healthcare. Passionate about working in a values-driven company that fosters an outstanding culture, you are committed to living those values daily while role modeling exceptional, values-based leadership.

As a Director, People Business Partnering, you thrive in a collaborative environment where delivering excellent service is your ultimate goal. Strategic yet hands-on, you excel at creating innovative and scalable solutions that align people and business strategies, enabling organizational success. With a proven ability to lead and inspire high-performing teams, you are driven by a passion for continuous improvement and fostering a culture of engagement, development, and excellence.

In this role, you will oversee a national team of People Business Partners, working within a model that includes Centers of Excellence (COEs) and HR Shared Services. You will serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to Operations leaders, identifying opportunities to enhance the employee experience and drive operational performance. While addressing reactive HR challenges will still be part of the scope, your focus will be on proactively shaping HR strategies, processes, and initiatives that foster engagement, retention, and organizational success.

Operating from our Head Office location in Toronto, Ontario and with regular travel as needed, you will partner closely with senior leadership across regions to assess organizational needs, align HR solutions with strategic priorities, and champion a culture of collaboration, innovation, and exceptional service delivery.

In this role, you will
  1. Lead and guide a national People Business Partnering team, empowering them to act as strategic partners to Operations leadership and deliver impactful solutions that enhance the employee experience and drive organizational success.
  2. Shape the departmental strategy and priorities, ensuring alignment between the employee experience and business performance outcomes.
  3. Consult on and drive the implementation of talent management strategies, including succession planning, leadership development, and workforce planning, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  4. Act as a trusted business partner to the VP of Operations, providing strategic HR support and insights to drive operational excellence and business outcomes.
  5. Develop a national approach to identify development opportunities and create scalable upskilling frameworks, enabling capability building and organizational effectiveness across regions.
  6. Identify opportunities to enhance HR programs, policies, and processes, striving for best-in-class practices across the organization.
  7. Continuously improve key milestones like onboarding and offboarding, partnering with stakeholders for process improvements to ensure an exceptional employee experience.
  8. Collaborate with COEs, HR Shared Services, and operational leaders to ensure processes are efficient, scalable, and aligned with organizational objectives, while optimizing the use of Workday for seamless integration and enhanced operational efficiency.
  9. Build strong, collaborative relationships across teams and departments (e.g., Recruitment, Total Rewards, DCI, Operations, Practice Development, and Finance) to support organizational success.
  10. Act as a thought leader, identifying key trends and issues across regions, and proactively sharing actionable insights with senior leaders.
  11. Leverage workforce analytics to uncover trends, measure HR initiatives, and provide strategic insights to guide leadership decisions.
  12. Foster a proactive, positive culture by championing HR initiatives that increase engagement, enablement, and retention.
  13. In partnership with HR Operations, ensure the accuracy and maintenance of HR data, using it to inform and improve decisions and outcomes.
  14. Act as a change agent, supporting the adoption of new tools, processes, and initiatives to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
  15. Serve as the point of contact for the Health and Safety COE, ensuring the effective implementation of health and safety programs and partnering with leadership to promote a safe, compliant work environment.
  16. Monitor and measure the success of HR initiatives, adapting strategies as needed to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with organizational goals.
  17. Advise on complex workplace relations issues, including investigations and terminations, ensuring consistent, fair outcomes and compliance with labor laws in collaboration with the Legal team.
What we’re looking for
  1. Post-graduate education in HR or a related field; CHRL designation (or in progress) is considered an asset.
  2. 10 years of Human Resources Business Partnering experience in a multi-unit environment.
  3. Demonstrated passion for HR, staying up to date on current legislation, trends, and best practices.
  4. Proven experience leading HR program rollouts such as calibration, succession planning, and culture and engagement initiatives, ensuring successful implementation across the organization.
  5. Proven experience leading complex workplace investigations and implementing resolutions with a focus on fairness, compliance, and organizational outcomes.
  6. Exceptional influence and relationship management skills, with the ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  7. Proven ability to analyze trends and data and develop proactive strategies to address organizational challenges.
  8. Strong business acumen, with the ability to align HR strategies with business goals and drive performance.
  9. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and experience with HRIS systems such as Workday.
  10. Ability to travel as needed to support operational leaders and teams across regions.
