We are looking for an Accounting Supervisor

This critical position will oversee our accounting department and contribute to operations improvement initiatives to enhance performance in the finance group. Specifically, you will:

1. Oversee all financial operations
2. Be a proactive, self-starting problem solver
3. Adapt and learn new software; knowledge of ERP systems is an asset
4. Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and journal entries
5. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements
6. Review compliance with accounting and internal controls
7. Provide benchmarks for departmental performance
8. Lead financial audits and recommend procedural improvements
9. Supervise direct reports, including accounts receivable, accounting administrators, and administrative assistants
10. Oversee payroll processing for Canadian and US operations
11. Review and finalize commissions for sales and service account managers
12. Ensure compliance with reporting requirements at various levels
13. Oversee grant submissions
14. Manage asset amortization
15. Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, accounting, finance, or a related field
• CPA / CGA designation or in progress
• 2–5 years of progressive accounting experience with leadership in Canada
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software
• Expertise in Excel
• Proficiency with MS Office
• Experience with US tax and payroll is an asset
