St. Theresa School, part of the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board, invites applications for an Educational Assistant: Classroom Assistant/Physical Care.

This 1.0 FTE permanent role begins September 4, 2026 and involves supporting students with diverse needs within a collaborative school team. The successful candidate will assist with behavior support, communication facilitation, and physical care as required, contributing to an inclusive learning environment and student

Qualifications

• Two-year post-secondary diploma in a relevant field.
• Experience with students with multiple needs including physical needs, autism and behavior management.
• Preference for direct experience with behavior exceptionalities.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
• Working knowledge of behavior modification strategies.
• Knowledge of augmentative communication strategies.
• Experience using technology and digital tools for remote learning (Google Classroom, Google Meet).
• Excellent interpersonal skills; and strong written and oral communication.
• Regular access to a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license.

EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT: CLASSROOM ASSISTANT/PHYSICAL CARE

St. Theresa School

1.0 FTE Permanent

Effective September 4, 2026

Mandatory Requirements:

• Two-year post-secondary diploma in a relevant field such as Developmental Service Worker, Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education, or Practical Nursing (formerly RNA diploma).
• Experience working with students with multiple needs including physical needs, Autism, developmental delays, behavior, and anger management needs.
• Preference will be given to candidates with direct experience working with children with behavior exceptionalities.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
• Working knowledge and experience of behavior modification strategies.
• Knowledge of augmentative communication strategies.
• Experience using technology and digital tools and resources that support the remote learning environment (e.g., Google Classroom, Google Meet)
• Excellent interpersonal skills; and
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Regular access to a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license.

Preferred Requirements:

• Non-violent crisis intervention training would be an asset
• French language skills would be considered an asset
• First Aid training
