Job summary

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board invites applications for the position of Educational Assistant: Classroom Assistant/Physical Care at St. Theresa School.

1.0 FTE Temporary

Effective September 4, 2026 until approx. January 22, 2027 and not to extend beyond June 30, 2027

Mandatory Requirements

• Two-year post-secondary diploma in a relevant field such as Developmental Service Worker, Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education, or Practical Nursing (formerly RNA diploma).


• Experience working with students with multiple needs including physical needs, Autism, developmental delays, behavior, and anger management needs.


• Preference will be given to candidates with direct experience working with children with behavior exceptionalities.


• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.


• Working knowledge and experience of behavior modification strategies.


• Knowledge of augmentative communication strategies.


• Experience using technology and digital tools and resources that support the remote learning environment (e.g., Google Classroom, Google Meet)


• Excellent interpersonal skills; and


• Good written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Requirements

• Non-violent crisis intervention training would be an asset


• French language skills would be considered an asset


• First Aid training
