Job summary

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board invites applications for a 1.0 FTE teaching position at Our Lady of Fatima for Primary/Junior/Intermediate divisions with Native-as-a-Second-Language emphasis. The role requires fluency in Ojibwe (Nipissing dialect) and travel between schools with access to a vehicle.

Effective September 2, 2026

Mandatory Requirements

• Basic qualifications to teach in the Primary, Junior and Intermediate Divisions
• Additional qualification in Native-as-a-Second Language
• Fluency in the Ojibwe language – Nipissing dialect
• Access to a vehicle as travel between schools is required

Preferred Requirements

• Knowledge and understanding of second language teaching and learning concepts
• Understanding of how Indigenous perspectives are integrated throughout the curriculum
• Knowledge of the culture and traditions of First Nations Métis and Inuit Peoples
• Understanding of the Ontario curriculum and experience in implementing a balanced approach to teaching literacy and using student data to drive instruction
• Understanding and proven ability to implement differentiated instruction and the principles of Learning for All and Growing Success
• Strong knowledge and experience employing effective assessment for, as and of learning practices
• Familiarity with the Board community and a willingness to be part of a team approach to teaching and learning
• Flexibility to teach other subjects as required
• Knowledge and experience in utilizing student learning management systems such as Google Classroom, Google Meet, as well as additional G-Suite digital tools and EDSBY.
• Commitment to supporting the use of technology in instruction and learning, and to promoting an environment of innovation and creativity that engages the 21st century learner
• Understanding and commitment to the implementation of culturally responsive pedagogy and the integration of Indigenous perspectives into instruction
• Sound knowledge and understanding of the development of student individual profiles to support the planning of differentiated instruction for a range of student learning needs
• Commitment to being an active participant on the school's professional learning team to promote student achievement
• Willingness to actively assume extra-curricular duties and familiarity with the school environment would be an asset
• Special Education Part 1 would be an asset
• Fluency in the Cree language would be considered an asset
