OVERVIEW

Ridley College has an opportunity for a part-time Educational Assistant in our Lower School. Hours are Monday to Friday, from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm, with potential assistance for aftercare from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm. The position runs from September to June.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in nurturing students' emotional wellbeing, implementing routines, curriculum, and tracking behavior.
• Assist in problem-solving challenging situations and engaging students in group activities.
• Communicate with families about student progress and challenges, in coordination with teachers.
• If assigned aftercare hours, maintain a safe environment, plan activities, enforce safety protocols, keep attendance and incident records, report issues to the Lower School Head, and communicate effectively with parents and students.

Qualifications

• Completion of the Educational Assistant Program from a Community College or an equivalent degree in a child-related field (e.g., DSW, Social Work, ECE, PSW).
• Experience working as an Educational Assistant in diverse classroom settings, especially with children exhibiting behavioral or emotional difficulties.
• Strong teamwork skills, sensitivity, diplomacy, adaptability, and stress management.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with problem-solving, negotiation, and mediation abilities.
• Ability to physically assist children, including lifting when necessary.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
