The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is seeking Casual Educational Assistants to support students with exceptional needs across various schools. This role involves assisting students with disabilities, modifying educational programs, and ensuring a supportive learning environment. Under the supervision of the Principal, the Casual Educational Assistant supports students with exceptional needs. Responsibilities include assisting students with autism spectrum disorders, behavior management, developmental delays, deaf/hard of hearing or visually impaired students, physiotherapy exercises, and more. The role involves modifying programs, supporting learning, and may include yard duties, lifting, toileting, and pool activities. Knowledge of Ontario Curriculum and educational software like Dragon and Kurzweil is beneficial.
Applicants should possess a community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent, with 1-2 years of relevant experience. Valid First Aid/CPR Level C and Behaviour Modification training are required. Please include copies of applicable diplomas and certificates.
This is a casual, on-call position across various elementary and secondary schools. Employees must meet minimum assignment requirements to remain on the casual list.
