Job summary

Heritage Christian Online School (HCOS) seeks Education Assistants on a part-time contract to support home learners and students in classrooms in Kelowna, BC. The role is 18-30 hours per week with flexible scheduling during school hours, serving grades 3-10 and within the Inclusive Education Department.

Earners will work in family homes and classrooms, collaborating with the Case Manager and parents to deliver differentiated learning and IEP goals.

Qualifications

• Experience in Education, EA Support, Behaviour Intervention, or with children/youth.
• Certified Educational Assistant certificate or training is an asset.
• Subject matter knowledge for grades 3–10 or willingness to learn.
• Alignment with Biblical Attributes & KCCS Foundational Beliefs.
• Collaborative and team-oriented with a teachable and encouraging mindset.
• Creative, innovative, and solutions-oriented with strong organizational skills.

HCOS Education Assistants are independent contractors who provide program support, behaviour and academic interventions, and encouragement to Home Learners within the Inclusive Education Department.

The Position:

We are seeking one or two Education Assistants to work with students in the family home and in the classroom. This is a part-time contract position that may grow in hours over the course of the school year, depending on student needs and EA skillsets.

• 2026/27 school year
• Location: Kelowna, BC (various areas: Glenrosa, Upper Mission, near UBC)
• Grades: 3-10
• Schedule: 18-30 hours per week (flexible during school hours)

As an Education Assistant, your duties and responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the social, spiritual, and academic learning needs of students, providing mentorship to the whole person
• Differentiating learning based on student ability and learning styles
• Collaborating with the Case Manager and the parent to support personalized learning opportunities
• Assisting in carrying out IEP goals, working alongside the broader student support team

We are looking for someone with the following qualities:

• Background working in Education, EA Support, Behaviour Intervention, or with children/youth
• Professionals with non-EA specific credentials are encouraged to also apply (e.g., psychology, behaviour analysis, social work, coaching, mathematics, etc.)
• A valid Certified Educational Assistant certificate (or training in process) is considered an asset
• Subject matter knowledge in the applicable grade levels or willingness to learn

• Competitive Wage: $23.97 – $28.13 hourly depending on certification and experience
