Job summary

Qualifications

• Two-year post-secondary diploma in Educational Assistant training or Education Assistant certificate with 1 year related experience.
• Two years' experience with children with special educational needs.
• Completion of POPARD/POPFASD/Low Arousal/ASD supports or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Works with students with severe behavioural challenges to ensure safe, inclusive integration in classroom and community programs.
• Supports students on risk reduction plans and reinforces positive behaviours.
• Collaborates with a transdisciplinary team of professionals in support of learning plans and positive behaviour supports.
• Understands behaviour as a form of communication.
• Provides academic support in small groups or one-on-one for students with special needs.
