Job summary

British Columbia Public School Employers' Association | Make a Future - Careers in BC Education is seeking an Education Assistant 3 (Behaviour) for a 27.5‑hour position. You will support students with severe autism, sensory challenges, and complex mental health needs under teacher direction.

You will assist in implementing IEPs, delivering instruction on social communication and life skills, and operating speech-generating devices.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent and specialized training relevant to exceptionalities (e.g., autism).
• Minimum two years' experience supporting children/youth with exceptional needs in schools or related settings.
• Ability to implement IEPs, behaviour support plans, and medication administration following school procedures.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation of IEPs, including Positive Intervention Plans.
• Deliver instruction focused on social communication, life skills and social development.
• Assist students with specialized equipment such as speech-generating devices.
• Develop and implement behaviour support strategies and document progress.
• Supervise and support students during community activities and school events.
• Record observations, assess progress, and maintain student records.
