Salary : CAD140000 - CAD150000 per annum + 15%
Our client - a leading residential real estate firm in Toronto - is seeking a Senior Manager, Property Accounting to join their growing team! Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer and leading a team of roughly 6 direct reports, this role will focus on accounting operations for a growing portfolio of residential rental and development properties in Canada, working collaboratively across asset management, property management, and development teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire the accounting and accounts payable teams responsible for the Canadian real estate portfolio.
- Manage the end-to-end accounting process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of month-end close.
- Oversee preparation and delivery of internal reports for leadership and external stakeholders.
- Supervise cash flow planning, including funding requirements and distribution schedules.
- Ensure the accurate preparation and review of financial statements and supporting disclosures for investor reporting.
- Perform financial analyses and lead variance reviews to provide actionable insights.
- Coordinate annual audits and address queries with external auditors.
- Collaborate with various teams to develop budgets and update quarterly forecasts.
- Strengthen internal control frameworks, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and compliance.
- Drive innovation by implementing system upgrades, including ERP solutions, and streamlining reporting processes.
- Support the onboarding of new rental and development properties by establishing robust accounting and reporting systems.
- Participate in cross-functional projects that support strategic organizational objectives.
Qualifications
- At least 4 years of experience in managerial roles. Experience with a global accounting firm is a bonus.
- Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS and expertise in financial reporting.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact across all levels of the organization.
- Highly motivated, proactive, and capable of excelling in a fast-paced work environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with other Microsoft Office tools.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Yardi is advantageous.
- Prior experience in residential real estate or property management is highly desirable.
