Senior Manager, Property Accounting (U4EXSX-22F4E9EA) Toronto, Canada

Salary: CAD140000 - CAD150000 per annum + 15%

Our client - a leading residential real estate firm in Toronto - is seeking a Senior Manager, Property Accounting to join their growing team! Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer and leading a team of roughly 6 direct reports, this role will focus on accounting operations for a growing portfolio of residential rental and development properties in Canada, working collaboratively across asset management, property management, and development teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead and inspire the accounting and accounts payable teams responsible for the Canadian real estate portfolio.
2. Manage the end-to-end accounting process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of month-end close.
3. Oversee preparation and delivery of internal reports for leadership and external stakeholders.
4. Supervise cash flow planning, including funding requirements and distribution schedules.
5. Ensure the accurate preparation and review of financial statements and supporting disclosures for investor reporting.
6. Perform financial analyses and lead variance reviews to provide actionable insights.
7. Coordinate annual audits and address queries with external auditors.
8. Collaborate with various teams to develop budgets and update quarterly forecasts.
9. Strengthen internal control frameworks, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and compliance.
10. Drive innovation by implementing system upgrades, including ERP solutions, and streamlining reporting processes.
11. Support the onboarding of new rental and development properties by establishing robust accounting and reporting systems.
12. Participate in cross-functional projects that support strategic organizational objectives.

Qualifications

1. At least 4 years of experience in managerial roles. Experience with a global accounting firm is a bonus.
2. Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS and expertise in financial reporting.
3. Strong organizational and analytical skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
4. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact across all levels of the organization.
5. Highly motivated, proactive, and capable of excelling in a fast-paced work environment.
6. Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with other Microsoft Office tools.
7. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Yardi is advantageous.
8. Prior experience in residential real estate or property management is highly desirable.
