Position Summary :

The Staff Accountant will support MasTec Canada's financial operations, assisting the Controller and internal teams with accurate financial reporting. This role is ideal for a professional comfortable in a busy environment and familiar with ERP systems. Preference will be given to candidates residing near Edmonton, AB. The position is office-based at 14964 121a Ave NW #201

Essential Job Functions :

• Review and analyze general ledger accounts; prepare journal entries for month-end and year-end closing
• Record and reconcile monthly bank transactions
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and financial reports
• Create monthly financial forecasts and analyze variances
• Conduct GST and PST reconciliations and filings
• Maintain cash flow forecasts and update leadership weekly
• Prepare documentation for audits and external requests
• Respond to management inquiries and audit requests
• Generate ad hoc reports and analyses as needed
• Ensure compliance with accounting controls and policies, including SOX requirements
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements :

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 1-2 years of accounting experience
• Experience in construction industry and ERP systems is an asset
• CPA candidacy is an asset

• Experience with Viewpoint Vista is an asset
