Job description

Under the direction of the Manager or designate and in collaboration as a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse provides care to complex but stable residents/clients. Responsibilities include performing assessments, planning and providing personal care, and executing nursing procedures. The Licensed Practical Nurse operates within the competency guidelines and full scope of practice outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, as well as agency policies, standards, and unit-specific protocols.

Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant.
• MHSU positions require additional education specified by BCCNM for practice involving primary diagnosis of Mental Health and/or Substance Use disorders.

Skills and Abilities

• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with residents, families, co-workers, multidisciplinary team members, and the public.
• Deal effectively with others.
• Organize work and implement a care plan.
• Demonstrate knowledge and competencies to work at the full scope of practice as required by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, including medication administration.
• Operate related equipment.
• Physically capable of performing the duties of the position.
