Job summary

WELL Health Diagnostic Centres in Calgary, AB, is seeking a skilled Echo Technologist to perform 2D Echocardiograms and assist with IV insertions where possible. The role involves patient preparation, monitoring, and producing clear reports using Philips and GE systems.

0-2 years of experience with ARDMS or Sonography Canada certification and CPR are required. Attractive sign-on and relocation bonuses are available for specific locations across Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient identification, safety and preparation prior to a scan.
  • Explain tests to patients and position them for examination.
  • Monitor patient during the procedure and note changes in vital signs.
  • Perform quality control and maintain equipment in good condition.
  • Prepare and organize reports and maintain records.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WELL Health Diagnostic Centres, previously C-health, is looking for a skilled and certified Echo Technologist who will be responsible for processing and testing patients for 2D Echos. IV insertion is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Responsible for ensuring patient identification, safety and preparation are correct prior to a scan while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Greet patient, explain forthcoming tests, position patient and generally prepare him/her for the examination.
  • Observe patient during the diagnostic procedure, making note of any symptoms or changes in vital signs and summoning medical aid when necessary.
  • Ensure all quality control assessments are performed as required. Take all reasonable precautions and work in compliance with related policies, health and safety legislation, and best practices.
  • Confirm procedures for proper equipment maintenance are completed in accordance with department standards.
  • Ensure equipment and instruments are performing in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Prepare and organize reports as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Experience & Requirements:
  • 0-2 years of related experience – open to hiring new graduates!
  • Candidates must be ARDMS or Sonography Canada certified (Registration with ACMDTT is required).
  • Current CPR certificate.
  • Ability to perform various Echocardiogram machines (primarily Philips iE33, GE Vivid s6, GE Vivid E9).
  • The ability to perform Stress and Contrast Echocardiograms is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and training.
  • Demonstrate effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A cheerful, positive attitude and the ability to work effectively with others as well as the ability to work independently and treat everyone with respect, dignity, and kindness.

Final compensation is determined based on market location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience level, and internal equity. Candidates with significantly more experience may be considered at a higher level with adjusted compensation for certain roles.
