Job summary

WELL Health Diagnostic Centres in Scarborough, ON is seeking an ultrasound professional to join our diagnostic team and support Echo procedures, safety and patient care. You will set up and operate ultrasound equipment for echocardiography, monitor quality control, perform routine maintenance, document results, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

  • RDMS certification and provincial equivalent.
  • Ability to perform all types of echo procedures on various ultrasound equipment.
  • Current CPR certificate.
  • Commitment to continuing education and training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform echocardiography procedures.
  • Ensure quality control assessments are performed as required.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment; keep log books for maintenance.
  • Sign all required documentation and ensure abnormal/urgent cases are handled per guidelines.
  • Follow health and safety procedures and comply with regulations.
  • Assist other staff under supervision and perform other duties as assigned.

  • Responsible for ensuring patient identification, safety and preparation are correct before starting scan. Ensures relevant patient history is documented.
  • Informs supervisor, or designated person, of unusual or abnormal scans.
  • Sets up and adjusts ultrasound equipment, maintaining established protocol.
  • Monitors supplies and notifies supervisor of shortages.
Performance of Echo Procedures
  • Echocardiograph procedure.
Quality Control
  • Ensures (and monitors) all quality control assessments are performed as required.
Equipment Maintenance
  • Observes and reports all malfunctions in Ultrasound equipment processor unit and computer.
  • Follows manufacturer's guidelines for operation, maintenance and minor trouble-shooting.
  • Maintains all required log books for routine equipment maintenance.
Reporting
  • Signs all required documentation.
  • Responsible for ensuring all abnormal and urgent cases are handled as outlined in departmental guidelines.
Safety
  • Cleans, tidies and disinfects Ultrasound equipment and change rooms.
  • Ensures log books are maintained and all fire and safety regulations are followed.
  • Follows established health and safety procedures.
Regulations
  • Complies with all Company and Government Regulations.
  • Maintains continuing educational requirements necessary for ongoing A.R.D.M.S. certification.
Other
  • Under direction of the Supervisor/ Clinic Manager, assists other staff members when workload is completed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Experience & Requirements:
  • 0-2 years of related experience.
  • R.D.M.S. or equivalent certification and provincial equivalent, if applicable.
  • Ability to perform all types of echo procedures on various types of ultrasound equipment.
  • Current CPR certificate.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and training.
  • Demonstrate effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
