Job summary

Today’s Family is seeking an Early Childhood Educator for casual, on-call coverage at Tapleytown Child Care Centre in Hamilton. The role offers flexible hours, with opportunities to engage in multiple programs and contribute to the well‑being and development of young learners.

Applicants should hold an ECE qualification, be registered or eligible for registration, and be prepared to work with diverse families within a not-for-profit community organization serving Hamilton and surrounding regions.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA).
  • Knowledge of How Does Learning Happen?
  • Experience working with children in a child care setting.
  • Immunizations current (TB Test, Tetanus, Polio, MMR).
  • Registered ECE in good standing.
  • First Aid and CPR-C certification.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check updated (last 6 months).
  • Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an on-call Supply Early Childhood Educator across programs in the region based on availability.
  • Collaborate with children as partners to co-create experiences that explore interests.
  • Offer diverse programming supporting well-being, engagement and expression of children.
  • Explore approaches to early learning including Reggio-Emilia, Play-based, Project-based Learning, Outdoor Education, Arts-based Learning, HIGH Five.
  • Foster belonging by creating welcoming, safe environments for children and families.
  • Build strong family partnerships through meaningful communication and community engagement.
  • Align with Ontario’s emergent curriculum and How Does Learning Happen? pedagogy.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as anon-call Supply Early Childhood Educator, providing flexible coverage across programs in the region by picking up shifts based on personal availability.
  • Work collaboratively with children as our partners to co-create experiences to investigate, explore, and amplify their interests.
  • Offer dynamic, diverse, and unique programming that supports the well-being, engagement, and expression of children .
  • Consider and explore a wide variety of approaches to early learning, including Reggio-Emilia Approach, Play-based and Project-based Learning, Outdoor Education, Arts-based Learning, HIGH Five Principles of Healthy Child Development, Positive Youth Development, among other evidence-based approaches and practices.
  • Facilitate belonging for children and families by creating welcoming, accepting, and safe environments forchildrenand families to learn and play.
  • Work collaboratively to build strong family partnerships in our communities through meaningful communication, facilitation of events and opportunities to involve and engage families in our work.
  • Be innovative in their approach to alignment with Ontario’s emergent curriculum and guiding pedagogical philosophy, ‘How Does Learning Happen?’
