Job summary

Upper Canada Child Care is hiring a Registered Early Childhood Educator in North York at Three Valleys PS. This casual supply role requires flexible hours with a minimum of 5 shifts per month. You will deliver a play-based, developmentally appropriate program and ensure compliance with licensing and program standards.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized college or university.
  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • 18 years of age or older due to licensing
  • Health assessment and up-to-date immunization record
  • Up-to-date registration with the College of ECEs
  • CPR-C and Standard First Aid certification
  • Experience with inquiry/play-based program design and documentation
  • Strong communication and collaboration with families and staff
  • Ability to supervise children in various settings including outdoors
  • Proficient with Dayforce and Storypark systems

Responsibilities

  • Apply professional knowledge to support a program meeting Ontario Ministry of Education requirements.
  • Adhere to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
  • Keep supervisor informed of compliance issues or policy concerns.
  • Engage with children and provide positive learning experiences.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings and trainings.
  • Complete program charts, logs, reports and admin tasks.
  • Mentor assistants, students and volunteers as needed.
  • Model expectations for student teachers and document learning.
  • Engage with parents and attend meetings as needed.
  • Use Storypark to document pedagogy and guide development.
  • Collaborate with team and external agencies to support all children.
  • Identify children needing additional support and help design plans.

We are currently recruiting a Registered Early Childhood Educator to join our Team in North York at the following location: Three Valleys PS.

This position is to fill a new vacancy.

Pay Range:

RECE: $27.35 - $31.15/hour (includes General Operating Grant) plus Wage Enhancement Grant (up to $2.00/hr)

Position Type & Required Availability:
  • Casual Supply status (variable hours): Candidates must be available to work a minimum of 5 assigned shifts every month.

Position Summary:

To ensure operational and curriculum requirements are met while applying specialized skills and knowledge related to early childhood education. To deliver a developmentally appropriate, inquiry/play based program while ensuring compliance with all internal and external guidelines, policies and procedures. Supports the organization's vision, mission, and guiding values. This is a fully in-centre position.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Applies professional knowledge of child development and current legislative expectations to support a program that is consistent with Ministry of Education requirements and in accordance with Upper Canada Child Care's program statement.
  • Adheres to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice as outlined by the Ontario College of Early childhood Educators.
  • Keeps team and supervisor apprised of compliance issues or problems related to governing regulation and internal policy.
  • Engages with the children and provides a positive learning experience. Provides a range of care including assisting with meals/snacks, toileting, diapering, dressing, etc.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities, staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Completes program charts, daily logs, reports, and other administration tasks as required.
  • Provides guidance to assistant educators, students and volunteers as needed.
  • Models expectations for student teachers from colleges, universities, secondary schools, etc. Completes documentation from Educational Institutions as required.
  • Fosters the engagement of and ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children. Attends parent and community meetings as needed.
  • Uses Storypark for pedagogical documentation as a guide for program development.
  • Effectively collaborates and communicates with other team members, school personnel, and outside agencies to help support the needs of all children.
  • Identifies children in need of additional support. Guides parents through the process of accessing resources. Helps design and implement individual support plans as required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized college or university.
  • A recent Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • At least 18 years of age or older due to licensing requirements.
  • Health assessment and up-to-date record of immunization as outlined by legislation.
  • Up-to-date registration with the College of ECEs.
  • Up-to-date certification in CPR-C and Standard First Aid (training provided upon selection if required).
  • Experience with inquiry/play based program design and implementation, and with the use of pedagogical documentation.
  • Uses initiative; applies sound reason in solving problems and resolves conflict in a calm, professional manner.
  • Proven ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively and establish appropriate relationships with families, coworkers and other professionals.
  • Have the physical and emotional stamina to effectively supervise children in a variety of settings including outdoor public spaces.
  • Ability to use computer systems and programs; including Dayforce, and Storypark.
  • Moderate level of physical effort is regularly required; including but not limited to kneeling, pushing, pulling, bending, and carrying.
