The Role

The Electrical Engineer is part of the engineering team that develops marine navigation and bridge systems for OSI’s government and naval markets, offering market-leading performance and reliability, minimizing production costs, and ensuring maintainability over an extended lifecycle. The Electrical Engineer 1 assists senior engineers in designing, selecting, evaluating, and documenting electrical/electronic components and their interconnections within the bridge systems.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist in performing studies, experiments, research, and tests contributing to the design and development of navigation system products according to codes, standards, drawings, specifications, and customer requirements for both commercial and military clients.
  2. Contribute to the design of systems based on both COTS and military-grade products, including recommending parts and components.
  3. Update and maintain the company’s parts database.
  4. Review hardware requirements and design documents to ensure proposed solutions meet requirements.
  5. Assist in creating electrical schematics, block diagrams, cable lists, and drawings following prescribed standards.
  6. Review designs for compliance with EMI/EMC standards.
  7. Prepare simple written plans, calculations, designs, specifications, and material lists.
  8. Assist senior engineers in technical tasks requiring accuracy and adherence to methods.
  9. Review designs for system, customer, and budget compliance, as well as industry and government standards.
  10. Communicate technical and design documentation clearly to other departments.
  11. Execute engineering change requests (ECRs) with supporting justification data.
You Bring
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  2. Knowledge of EMI, EMC effects, and test procedures.
  3. Knowledge of digital and analog electrical circuits.
  4. Experience with product certification testing to civilian and military standards.
  5. Proficiency with SolidWorks Electrical and AutoCAD.
  6. Familiarity with MS Office Suite and SharePoint.
