THE ROLE

As a Journeyperson Carpenter, you are expected to be engaged in our safety program, executing work safely and in adherence with CANA policies, all applicable code regulations, and the Act.

  • Construct, fabricate, and install concrete forms in accordance with site-specific requirements and job scope.
  • Construct and erect columns and cores; suspended slabs; and stairs.
  • Operate hand tools and power-actuated tools as required to perform tasks, including inspecting and ensuring proper safe use.
  • Install heating/hoarding, temporary fencing, guardrails, handrails, and barriers as required.
  • Erect scaffold and related support as necessary.
  • Read blueprints and/or receive instructions from supervision.
  • Prepare layout, including selecting materials, planning sequences, and methods of work.
  • Install shoring.
  • Remove/strip forms.
  • Ensure work areas are kept clean and free of hazards.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as required on the jobsite.
  • The position requires physically demanding motions and tasks.
  • Candidates must be in good physical condition, fit for work, and prepared to work outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Canadian Journeyman Carpentry Certificate and competence in the Carpentry Trade.
  • Experience working with wall and slab formwork systems such as Peri and Doka.
  • Valid Driver’s License or means of transportation to project sites.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while working as part of a team.
  • A good understanding and/or ability to find information as needed in the OH&S regulations.
