Role Overview
The Director, Project Management & Delivery will lead the Global Finance "Accelerate the Close" project within the Regulatory and Governance pillar of Global Finance’s Strategic Initiatives. Responsibilities include developing and executing strategic initiatives related to ATC, managing project teams, and ensuring projects are delivered on scope, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Provide strategic direction to project managers and cross-functional teams, aligning with Global Finance and Scotiabank's objectives.
- Portfolio Management: Oversee project prioritization and resourcing to maximize business value.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior leaders to define and drive the strategic roadmap, identifying opportunities and risks. Develop project plans and tracking tools.
- Risk Management: Implement methodologies to identify, assess, and mitigate risks for successful delivery.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignment.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor project deliverables for quality, compliance, and industry best practices.
- Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of process enhancement.
- Reporting: Prepare and present project status reports; act as Secretary for the Operating Committee.
- Talent Development: Mentor team members, fostering growth and excellence.
- Operational Standards: Maintain industry-leading standards and ensure operational and business excellence.
- Risk Culture & Controls: Ensure adherence to risk appetite, operational controls, and compliance frameworks.
- Team Environment: Build a high-performance, inclusive team environment, managing succession and development.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management, or related field.
- At least 10 years of project management experience managing complex projects.
- Proven experience in strategic planning and portfolio management.
- Strong communication, negotiation, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of Financial Close Principles and Methods.
- Ability to understand and implement business requirements.
- Leadership skills to motivate and develop teams.
- Knowledge of financial industry regulations and compliance.
- MBA or PMP certification is a plus.
