A Day in the Life

Are you a creative, forward-thinking professional looking to make a real impact in Canadian healthcare? Medtronic Canada is seeking a Senior Principal Healthcare Consultant to design and deploy consulting services, digital health solutions, and data-driven strategies that accelerate access, build capacity and find efficiencies to transform patient care. In this role, you’ll collaborate with industry leaders, challenge conventional approaches, and deliver innovative solutions that address some of Canada’s most pressing healthcare challenges.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
• T he Senior Consultant optimizes operations, improves patient access and operational capacity and efficiency, and delivers sustained performance outcomes.
• In collaboration with the team, the Senior Consultant will partner withclients to help them co-design, implement and sustain strategic initiatives through:
o Clinical operational service delivery reviews and redesign
o Health services planning and workforce optimization
o Clinical Process Redesign across the care continuum
o Data analytics and targeted optimization / modelling for health system planningand operations improvement, utilizing Lean and Six Sigma approaches, and othertransformational activities to drive quality improvement, financial savings andoperational excellence

• Healthcare consulting projects involving strategy development and organizational restructuring and management of the business to maximize efficiencies and outcomes.
• Works with senior management of companies to determine long-term goals byanalyzing the client's business and making recommendations for changes andimprovements.
• Utilize change management techniques to engage stakeholders and attain buy-in of the program.
• Train, coach and mentor team members to promote knowledge transfer and sharedlearning to drive expertise in operational optimization and excellence.
• Generate clear proof points of the value for the program.

• Responsible for reporting complaints and Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR)

CAREER STREAM:

May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower levelprofessionals. The majority of time is spent delivering and overseeing the projects – fromdesign to implementation - while and adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge andskills normally acquired through advanced education.

Develops solutions tounique issues Improves upon existing processes and systems using significantconceptualizing, reasoning and interpretation.
Communication and Influence: Interacts with internal and external customers and vendors atvarious levels, including executive leadership, on significant matters. Conducts briefings withsenior leaders within the job function. Negotiates with others to reach understanding oragreement

Leadership and Talent Management: Frequently provides guidance, coaching and trainingto other employees. Typically manages large, moderately complex initiatives of strategicimportance to the organization, involving large cross-functional teams.

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires mastery level knowledge of specialty areaand working knowledge of several other areas, typically obtained through advanced educationcombined with experience. May have deep knowledge of project management. Requires aBaccalaureate degree and minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or advanced degreewith a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree, or;
• Advanced degree.
• Lean Six Sigma Black Belt

JOB EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with a bachelor's degree, or;
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, with an advanced degree.

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION

• Relevant degree in nursing, healthcare, medicine, engineering, medicine, healthcare, life sciences, or businessfield

• Strong knowledge of the Canadian Healthcare system, including health systemdesign, and service delivery model, trendsand quality improvement in health

• Project Management Certification

JOB EXPERIENCE
• Demonstrable experience over 5 years including relevant experience in consulting
• Demonstrated ability to operate from idea generation, strategy development through
detailed analysis, execution and results delivery •
• Successful utilization of change management techniques
• Experience dealing with hospitals’ clinical leaders, staff, and C-suite/Sr.
Management/stakeholders

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
• Strong and demonstrable project management skills: planning & coordinating,communicating & influencing, relationship building, achieving milestones, resolvingissues, and managing risks.
• Ability to integrate a team and coach it to continuously improve their performance.
• Actively look for best practices, new techniques and tools and build plans and guideactions for implementation in its daily job.
• Strong analytical skills and working knowledge of analytics platforms
