Hardware Designer - Technical Specialist

Aversan Inc ( www.aversan.com ) is a reputable Engineering Company that provides expertise in Systems Integration and Software Testing for industries including Digital Health, Medical Devices, IT and Aerospace. We are currently seeking a qualified Hardware Designer - Technical Specialist to work on leading-edge technology products. The successful candidate for this full-time position will be a part of a highly motivated and highly technical work environment that feeds off the collective energy of a team-oriented workplace.

Location : Toronto, ON

Schedule : HYBRID (2 days a week in office)

Description

To produce application designs and equipment designs that meet requirements utilizing processes based on established engineering principles. Involved with complex and difficult designs.

Responsibilities

Technical Skills

• Demonstrating a high degree of initiative, and resourcefulness in solving problems.
• Good understanding of SelTrac signal plans and SelTrac Radio equipment.
• Demonstrating an advanced level of logical reasoning resulting in effective hardware application designs, products, and processes.
• Interpreting and the ability to write Requirements.
• Preparing specifications for hardware and / or software components.
• Proficient with the use of development tools, CAD packages (MicroStation, AutoCAD)
• Maximizing use of existing design.
• In possession or previously possessed CMS Designer or Principles License.

Management Skills

• When required, lead a small team of designers (1 or 5 Designers).
• Manage assigned tasks, schedule, and budget.
• Keeping track of progress on all tasks assigned to the team.
• Ensuring that all tasks proceed according to schedule, within budget, and in accordance with all requirements.
• Verify that all assigned work has been completed accurately and on time.
• Carry out all assigned work efficiently, with a minimum of supervision.
• Generating accurate, supportable estimates for current departmental technology and providing estimates for technologies that are new to the department.
• Intimate understanding of Work Instructions and the QMS process.
• Knowledge of Chorus process is an asset.

Communication Skills

• Well-developed verbal skills to interact effectively and professionally in a variety of forums.
• Well-developed writing skills to prepare clear effective documents.
• Good interpersonal and diplomatic skills to deal confidently, courteously, and correctly with people at any level within the organization, and the customer.

• Mentor junior or new members of the department.
• Maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the job and in relations with others.
• Locating and researching source documentation for design activities.

Basic Qualifications & Skills

• Post secondary Technologist diploma or Electrical Engineering degree.
• 8 – 12 years related work experience.
• Computer literate with knowledge of CAD tools (MicroStation, AutoCAD), Bills of Materials, (SAP), Configuration Management, ClearQuest, and Microsoft Office suite.
• Good interpersonal and technical writing skill.
