Responsibilities and Tasks
  • Estimate the amount and costs of supplies and food items
  • Estimate labour costs
  • Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory
  • Analyze operating costs and other data
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to kitchen staff
  • Supervise activities of chefs, cooks, and kitchen workers
  • Create new recipes
  • Instruct cooks in food preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation
  • Prepare and cook meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets
  • Supervise cooks and kitchen staff
  • Prepare and cook food regularly or for special events
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies
  • Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets, and functions
  • Plan menus and ensure food quality standards
  • Prepare dishes accommodating food allergies or intolerances
  • Lead and train kitchen staff
