Responsibilities and Tasks
- Estimate the amount and costs of supplies and food items
- Estimate labour costs
- Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory
- Analyze operating costs and other data
- Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to kitchen staff
- Supervise activities of chefs, cooks, and kitchen workers
- Create new recipes
- Instruct cooks in food preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation
- Prepare and cook meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets
- Supervise cooks and kitchen staff
- Prepare and cook food regularly or for special events
- Requisition food and kitchen supplies
- Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets, and functions
- Plan menus and ensure food quality standards
- Prepare dishes accommodating food allergies or intolerances
- Lead and train kitchen staff
